Privacy
We are a fishing charter, not a data business. We collect what we need to run your trip and nothing else, your card number never touches our server, and we do not sell anything about you to anyone.

What we collect
When you book a trip, the form asks for:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address
- Your mobile number
- The trip, date and number of guests
- Anything you type in the notes box
If you send a corporate or group enquiry instead, we collect your name, company, email and phone.
That is the whole list. We do not ask for an address, a date of birth, or anything we would have no use for.
Your card details
Deposits are taken through Square. When you click to pay, you leave this site for a payment page hosted by Square, enter your card there, and come back. Your card number, expiry and security code are handled entirely by Square and are never sent to, seen by, or stored on our server.
What we get back from Square is confirmation that a payment succeeded and the amount. Square has its own privacy policy covering what they hold.
What we do with it
- Run your trip: know who is coming, when, and how many.
- Reach you about your own booking: confirmations, changes, weather calls.
- Keep the business records we are required to keep for tax and accounting.
We do not add you to a mailing list from a booking, and we do not send marketing you did not ask for.
Who else sees it
Booking details are visible to Captain Thao and to whoever is running the boat that day. Beyond that:
- Square — processes the payment.
- Our web host — stores the booking record on the server, like any website host.
- A fleet partner — if your trip is run by a partner boat rather than Captain Thao, they get your name, the trip and the time so they can meet you. Nothing else.
We do not sell your information, and we do not trade or rent it. We would only hand anything over if the law required it.
Cookies and tracking
This site does not use a cookie banner because it does not set tracking cookies of its own. What it does load:
- Google advertising tags. Pages carry Google’s tag so we can tell whether people who clicked one of our ads went on to book. Google may set its own cookies through that tag and uses them as described in Google’s own privacy policy.
- Campaign tags stored in your browser. If you arrive from an ad, the click identifier and any campaign parameters are saved in your own browser’s local storage for up to 90 days, so a click and a booking can be connected. It stays on your device, holds no personal details, and clearing your browser data removes it.
- Google Fonts. Typefaces load from Google’s servers, which means Google sees the request, including your IP address.
- Videos. The videos on this site are hosted on our own server. No video platform is involved, and they only load when you scroll near them.
Links to Instagram, Facebook and Google are ordinary links. No social tracking pixels or embedded widgets run on this site.
How long we keep things
Booking records are kept as business records for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet tax and accounting obligations. Enquiries that never turn into a trip are cleared out once they are plainly dead.
What you can ask for
Email opulentfish@gmail.com or call 206-371-6465 and you can ask us to:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Correct anything wrong
- Delete your details, once there is no booking or tax reason to keep them
A real person will answer. We may need to check you are who you say you are before changing or deleting anything.
You can also control the advertising side yourself at Google’s ad settings, or block storage and cookies in your browser. The site works fine with them blocked.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and payments are handled by Square rather than by us, which keeps the riskiest data out of our hands entirely. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Children
Children are welcome on the boat, but this website is meant for adults making a booking. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us something, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes to this page
If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
