Bachelor parties on Puget Sound
Six guys, a private boat, and something to actually do. A better story than the fourth bar of the night, and everybody remembers it.
The case against the bar crawl
Seattle has excellent bars and you will end up in some of them. But a bachelor weekend that is only bars is the same weekend everyone else has had, and the groom will not remember the second half of it.
Put the morning on a boat instead. You get the daylight hours doing something none of you has done, everyone has a story, and the drinking still happens afterwards — just with a better first act.
How it works for a group
Book the entire boat. It takes six, which is the natural size of a bachelor party before it becomes a logistics problem. Private means the boat is yours: no strangers, no shared trip, no one else's schedule.
Bigger than six? We can run back-to-back morning and afternoon departures — twelve across a day, in two waves.
Pick the right trip for the group
| The group is... | Book |
|---|---|
| Actually into fishing | Private salmon charter (6 hrs) or lingcod |
| Mixed, some hungover | Flounder (3 hrs) — steady bites, shorter day |
| Wants to fill a cooler | Crabbing, July–September |
| Wants the weird one | Squid jigging, at night, in autumn |
If half your group has never fished and the other half was out late, take the flounder trip. It is three hours instead of six, the fish actually bite, and nobody has to be a hero.
Ground rules, said plainly
You can bring drinks aboard. Captain Thao runs a relaxed boat and this is supposed to be fun.
But he is a USCG-certified captain operating a commercial vessel with people's lives on it, and he will end a trip early if a group becomes unsafe. Nobody boards already wrecked. Everyone follows the captain's instruction. This is not us being difficult — it is the same rule on every legitimate charter in the country, and the ones who do not enforce it are the ones you should worry about.
Show up in reasonable shape and there is no problem. In several years nobody has had this be an issue.
Also good for
The same boat and the same trips work for birthdays, father-and-son days, guys' trips, family reunions and stag dos. Anything where a private boat and six people is the right shape of a day. If you are organising something for work rather than for friends, see the corporate page — we invoice for those.
What you need
A Washington fishing licence each — one-day licences can be issued onboard. Layers, soft-soled shoes, sunglasses. Everything else — rods, tackle, bait, life vests — is on the boat. We fillet the catch at the dock, so somebody is cooking fish that night.
Common questions
How many people can come on a bachelor party charter?
Six on a private charter. For larger groups we can run back-to-back morning and afternoon departures, taking up to twelve across a day.
Can we drink on the boat?
Yes, you can bring drinks aboard. But Captain Thao is a USCG-certified captain running a commercial vessel — nobody boards already intoxicated, and he will end a trip early if a group becomes unsafe.
What's the best trip if half the group has never fished?
The three-hour flounder trip. The fish bite steadily, it's a shorter day, and beginners catch fish rather than sitting through a long quiet wait.
Is a fishing charter good for a birthday or a guys' trip?
Yes — the same private boat and trips work for birthdays, father-and-son days, family reunions and stag dos.
