Fish for salmon in Seattle/Tacoma waters with the traditional mooching method alongside renowned salmon captains. Summer and fall trips depart from Dock V at Shilshole Bay Marina. From November 15, winter blackmouth trips pick up at Point Defiance, Tacoma.

Jig for squid on Puget Sound, October 15 through January 31. Easy to learn and great for first-timers, and the freshest calamari you will ever eat. Pickup at V Dock, Shilshole Bay.

Crabbing

Pull pots for sweet Dungeness crab in the summer and winter seasons, July through December. WDFW sets the open areas and days each year, so we confirm what is open for your date. Pickup at V Dock, Shilshole Bay.

Sea Burial

Give your loved one a beautiful burial at sea. A Certificate of Sea Burial with the precise coordinates of the disposition can be provided. Pickup at V Dock, Shilshole Bay.

Winter blackmouth from November 15The king. Largest of the Pacific salmon — we fish for resident "blackmouth" with the traditional method called mooching.
²Coho
Late summer – fallThe acrobat. Silvers hit hard and jump often, moving through Puget Sound on their way to home rivers.
³Pink
Odd-numbered years · late summerThe crowd-pleaser. Humpies return in huge numbers — steady action that's perfect for first-timers.
⁴Flounder
Year-roundThe reliable one. Open season all year on the sandy flats — drop, feel the thump, reel.
⁵Dungeness
July – DecemberThe Sound's most famous catch. Regulations vary by year, so check with us on the current season.
⁶Squid
October 15 – January 31The calamari run. Four-hour trips at 8am or 1pm, easy to learn and great for first-timers.

Meet the Captain

Captain Thao Tran

"We pay attention to the details and host you like family and friends."

Born in the fishing village of Quy Nhon, Vietnam, Captain Thao immigrated to Seattle at six years old and has carried on his family's legacy of fishing and foraging in Puget Sound ever since.

After years in charitable nonprofits and community empowerment work, Thao brings that same passion for people to every Seattle Nautic trip. Our staff and partners are knowledgeable, friendly and service-oriented — so everyone onboard leaves with a story worth telling.
